EU funded projects BIOVOICES and Transition2BIO have just published a bioeconomy book for kids! With this initiative, the projects aim to educate young children about the bioeconomy in a fun and creative way.
Why a book for kids?
Despite all the efforts of Europe and its initiatives supporting bioeconomy, the large public is often unaware of the bioeconomy-related terminologies, the bio-based applications in every-day’s life and the technologies behind the innovations produced by the bio-based research and industry. It is essential to reach young people at the beginning of their life in order to nurture them as responsible consumers.
What is the book about?
The book explains what bioeconomy is through the use of graphic illustrations. It promotes bio-based solutions in an easy and comprehensive way and raises awareness about sustainable production, consumption and lifestyles. The project aspires that the book will reach not only children, but also their peers, families, teachers that will read the book with them.
Bioeconomy for all!
The pilot version of the book will be printed in over 10.000 copies in 11 languages (English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Dutch, German, Romanian, Slovak, Estonian, Hungarian) and will be distributed in selected schools, bookshops, museums for children and institutional contexts.
Watch live the book launch event on the BIOVOICES YouTube channel on the 30th of March 2021 from 10:00 till 12:00 CET. Do not miss it!
